Pinnguaq Association, a non-profit organization, incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) into unique learning applications that promote storytelling, health, wellness and growth with rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. Indigenous Youth – 2021 Summer Student Positions

Pinnguaq is strongly committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and we prioritize the hiring of undergraduate and/or college students who are of Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit descent for its Student Summer Program positions. These positions are established to enhance the inclusion of all young peoples in digital skills and education.


Compensation

  • The program runs for 12 weeks from June 14 to September 23, 2021 
  • Students will be paid $14.25 per hour (Ontario) and $20 per hour (Nunavut) based on a 37.5 hour week (full-time), less statutory deductions, including 4% in lieu of vacation and relevant statutory holiday pay
  • Students will be paid bi-weekly through payroll

Eligibility

This position is Grant funded. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
