Event Descriptions


Sewing Machine Maintenance

The first of our new “Web of Knowledge” series. Participants can bring their sewing machines, and join our workshop, (tools and space are provided) where we will learn the basics of sewing machine maintenance, as well as how to find manuals and replacement parts using internet resources. Limited seats available. Please register to secure a spot.

Runs On:

  • Mondays 5-8pm
  • Wednesdays 9am-12noon
  • Saturday November 23: 9am-12noon

Musical Jam Session & Open House (DRY EVENT)

Our first saturday night jam session and community open house. An orientation to our main space, and upcoming free recording studio, as well as engagement on upcoming music classes (digital recording and production, DJing, Drumming, Musical Improvisation). Drop in welcome! No registration required.

Runs on

  • Saturday December 7: 8pm – 12midnight

Lighting Technology

A progressive series with community partner and lighting professional Laura Penney.

Part I (3 hours) 

This class will be Lighting 101 in a basic overview of lighting fixtures and related equipment, lighting control, and lighting design for various purposes. The students will have the opportunity to learn some aspects of lighting control and create their own lighting cues.

Part II (3 hours) 

This class will provide an overview of control systems, electrical distribution, and electrical troubleshooting. This is will include cabling, connecting devices, electrical safety, using the board, fuses, patching, cable building, and introduction to the multi-meter.

Part III (3 hours) 

This class will include a brief review of the characteristics of light, functions of lighting, terminology, and instrumentation. The process of design conceptualization will also be explored in lighting for various purposes.
